You know the ecological packaging for food

We have all seen many different types of food packaging when shopping, but not all packaging is the same, each one has its own characteristics.

What is ecological packaging?

The ecological food container is a type of container or packaging that protects what is inside, in our case, food for human consumption with beneficial characteristics for both the environment and the food sector.

Eco-friendly food packaging is beneficial to society. They are containers manufactured by packaging companies with all the safety guarantees for the daily use of consumers and with the possibility of reusing or recycling at the end of their useful life.

This ecological plastic container is used in different sectors, in the food sector in a generalized way thanks to the research that has achieved that the materials from which these containers are made are adequate and even provide benefits to the element it contains.

The advantages of ecological containers

The containers have many functions but we highlight the three remarkable functions of the ecological containers.

Minimize its impact on the environment.

Do not transfer toxins, typical of the material with which the container is designed, to the food they contain.

They must be designed to be reused, with security guarantees such as the first use.

What materials are used to make ecological packaging

For the manufacture of packaging there are plastic materials considered as ecological and that are not only single-use but can also be reusable food packaging.

We have many of these materials in our home every day since today most of our food comes packaged.

Characteristics of the materials used in plastic containers

PET, which preserves food very well, avoiding losing flavor and aroma so that they reach consumption with all their characteristics.

HDPE is another material used for ecological plastic containers   that are used to contain solid and liquid food for human consumption, given its resistance to humidity and hardness.

The  PVC,  this is more like film used to wrap meat and fruit, plus multiple uses that are perfectly normal in our daily lives.

LDPE is used for frozen food bags and squeeze bottles. As an example of the use of these flexible containers  we fear the typical jars of mustard, ketchup, etc.

PP (Polypropylene) are the typical food containers whose use is indicated for microwave trays , among others.

PS, they are the most used as containers for eggs and to contain food.

ABS, finally, we can talk about polycarbonate that is used to pack different things such as CDs, lamps, sunglasses, etc.  although also to manufacture car bumpers.

What plastic containers are biodegradable?

The trend in food packaging is the use of biodegradable plastic containers. The new materials that fulfill the function of protecting the content present a good design, are economically viable and sustainable factors that are highly valued in the packaging sector and food packaging companies.

For this reason, nowadays the economic resources are used in research on the so-called “bio packaging” or, in other words, in  biodegradable packaging for food.
